A little about me and what I love to do!

Hi! I’m Sally.

I have been felting, dyeing and spinning fibre since about 2008 and as soon as I started I was hooked. I really can’t think of anything I would rather be doing. Even on a cold wet day here on the North West Coast of Tasmania, I still manage to get my hands on fibre of some sort every day, to look at, work with, touch or feel.

I have been creating most of my life but didn’t get to know fibre until I decided I had to make a change from patchwork and sewing. Because I couldn’t sew a straight seam, I eventually had to admit defeat and try something else!

Over a number of years I have been quietly attending workshops and courses with some of the most talented Felt makers around Australia and across the world. Being based in Tasmania, a little island off the bottom of Australia has its charm and challenges when it comes to acquiring skills in any field. Thankfully with help of the internet and some well supported groups, I have been able to continue to learn and create while still enjoying the quiet peacefulness of living in the bush on an island.

My original online name was Felt Fibre Craft and I love the connection it has to my wonderful long standing followers and now friends who have supported and helped me numerous times over the years.

Me new website is the culmination of a tiny thought I had in 2016 to start stepping out on my own. On my website you might find some of my original designed bags and purses. There will also be a selection of my hand dyed fibres and yarns.

I believe in using the best quality fibres available and support Tasmanian wool growers and local business as much as possible. My mill spun yarns are from Australian Merino wool. I dye my fibres and yarns using Australian made acid dyes with strong vibrant colours and good light fastness in my dye studio nestled under some giant Tasmanian gums with native birds chattering away in the background.

I hope you enjoy my creations.
